Subtasks become hidden

A coworker of mine is having a strange problem. In a project 2003 SP2
intall on his box, he 1. Opens a new project file.
2. Enters several tasks.
3. Goes back to set his project hiearchy. He starts by making the 2nd
task on the sheet a subtask. The task name field in the gnatt chart
view becomes blank. The task name shows up in the task name edit
window above the gant chart.
4. The same file on my machine behaves as I would expect. you should
be able to see the subtasks.
What configuration setting are we missing that is causing this problem?

Hi Mark,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup

I've never heard of this happening. I think it would be worth re-installing
Project or you could try Help/Detect and repair.
