subtotals in a table or query

Hi, I have a table that i link from access to excel. I am trying to
subtotal the table. I can add a Column no big deal. But I need to be
able to add rows. When I do it manually and then refresh the table,
all the manual work goes away. Is there a way to do what I need in
either excel or in a table or query in access?
