subtract minutes from time

What is the syntax for subtracting 15 minutes from 8:15 a.m.? (I want the
calculated end result to be 8:00 a.m.)

You have to divide the minutes by 60 and by 24 in order to subtract
them from a time-formatted value. i.e. if you have 8:15 am in A1 and 15
in B1 try this in C1:

=A1-B1/60/24

and format the cell as time.

Do you have 2 values in 2 different cells both formatted as time where one
is 08:15 and the other is 00:15? If so just subtract

= A2 - A3

where A3 is 00:15 and A2 is 8:15


if A2 is 8:15 and A3 is 15 use

=A2-(A3/1440)
