sudden onslaught of viagara/phamaceutical junk mail

During the last few weeks I've been deluged with ads for mail pharmaceuticals
for viagara and other products. I've tried hitting reply and putting "remove
from Mail list" but it comes back as undeliverable. How can I stop this?

Which means you became part of the problem by sending e-mails to
innocents that had nothing to do with the spam. You think spammers are
really going to use their real e-mail address?
How can I stop this?

Enabled server-side antispam filter in your email account.
Filters or rules in your email client.
Anti-spam programs.
