Suddenly Outlook 2003 stopped saving sent message in sent folder

Without me making any changes in Options or anywhere else, Outlook 2003 [with
Windows XP SP2] has stopped saving sent messages in the sent folder. The
messages are sent and received correctly but I now have no record of my
outgoing messages.

How many messages are in your existing Sent Items folder?
