If you draw a grid using borders (Format>Cells>Border), that will print
okay.

I want to print a blank sheet to use in solving sudoku. The sheet will have
to show grid lines but no content.
I have tried to do this with excel but it will only print if I put something
(such as a single digit) in each box.
Can anyone tell me how to print the grid lines only from an excel worksheet?
Thank you.

Just goto the last row/column cell that you want to print>touch the
spacebar>print

I don't want to spoil your own efforts in solving SuDoku puzzles, but as
you mention Excel, I'd like to point out a quite remarkable effort by
David Ireland who produced an Excel workbook and VBA code to solve most
of those: see <http://www.di-mgt.com.au/sudoku.html>.

Michael, thanks for the tip, I have bookmarked the site but shall continue
to try and solve them myself for a little while yet.
