Word shout let us set with precision the opacity of a watermark.

Now, in Word 2003, we can just select wheter the watermark is {in french,
the option name is "estompé", I presume it's an option called blurred, that's
a checkbox at right of the scale combobox} or not.

Hi Sébastien,

If you go to View=>Header/Footer (where the watermark
is placed by Word) you can select the Watermark, double
click it or use Format=>Picture and change the settings.

You already can. The English term is Opacity. When you insert a
watermark it is actually placed in the header- and footer-area. After
you have inserted the watermark you can show the headers and footers
(View -> Headers and footers) and select the watermark. If it is a
picture watermark you can edit the contrast and light on the picture
toolbar. If it is a text watermark it is a Word Art-object and you can
adjust the opacity by pressing Format Word Art on the Word Art toolbar
and then select the Colours and lines-tab.
