Suggestions for setting up a shared company calendar

Andrew

With a small group, we are accustomed to viewing a single shared calendar to
check each person's availability. Does anyone have suggestions on how to
best achieve this.

I have currently set up a shared calendar in the public folder. When people
set up an appointment on their own calendar, they can also schedule the
shared calendar. Is this an efficient way to do what I want? Would it be
better to set up a shared calendar using sharepoint on the companyweb? Or
something else?

Thanks for any feedback.

Your version would help!

If you have 2002 or 2003 there is a function called Group Schedules in every
person's calendar. It's a button in the toolbar (you must be in the
Calendar folder first).

There you can set up a group who's Calendars you want to see. It's like an
in/out peg board. You can also make meetings from here.

Thanks Judy. That is very helpful. Just to clarify... this function appears
to be specifically for scheduling? That is, the user does not really get a
one month overview to quickly see everyone's schedule? For example, seeing
which day is good for everyone within a month.

Seems to be great for focusing on a single day to see what time slot would
work for a meeing (per people or conference room.) Please correct me if I am
wrong?

The smallest that I can view is 50% (Week View). Perhaps I should use this
in conjuction with the public shared calendar (and continue to invite it when
scheduling from user's calendar.)

And how do I set permissions so that the public calendar's "free/busy
information" also shows up in the group schedules? Right now it's greyed out
(no info).

Thanks for the exchange lesson. We'll be using the application much better
already.
