Sum based on month

Hello,

I want to get a dollar value of all the contracts won for
a particular month. The date format is 27-Nov-04. I can
get it to work if just "Nov" is used but not with a
complete date. How can I do this? Is there a wildcard
like (*) that I can use? Any help is apprciated.
