SUM column A, IF column B=?, 3 sheets

SUM of column A, if column B equals "John" across three sheets.

What function should I use?

Three sheets, such as Jan.Feb.Mar.
A B
1 John
2 John
1 John
2 Sue
1 Sue
1 John
2 Matt

John has 5. Three duplicate sheets would equal 15

first enter your sheet names in a separate range on your summary sheet.
e.g. in the cells X1:X3
After this use the following formula
=SUMPRODUCT(SUMIF(INDIRECT("'" & X1:X3 &
"'!B1:B100"),"John",INDIRECT("'" & X1:X3 & "'!A1:A100")))
