Sum only the numbers in a range

Hi,

I would like to sum the numbers in a range that contains
both text and numbers. Anyone have any suggestions on how
to do this.

Hi Peter

=SUM(A1:B100) will ignore text entries and sum the numbers.

If there are both letters and numerals in a cell, they cannot be summed
directly. The "numbers" become text when letters/characters are included.

But if some cells contain numbers and others text, you can just sum the
range. Excel will ignore the text cells and sum just the numbers.
