Summary Tasks Actuals

Hi,

What would be a best practice to use if my MSP schedule is broken down to
level of detail where I can not capture the actual cost and labor hrs. Same
time this level of details is critical to monitor the project progress. I
did assign resources to summary task but could not enter actual labor or cost
to the same summary task. I am working the idea to use Hammock task in
parallel to summary task. This way I think I could get the progress data from
the summary task and by loading hammock task with resources and actual I
could run EV and progress reports.
Any help or recommendations ???
Thanks,

Yakov

You're on the right track, using hammock tasks parallel to your Summary
lines. I avoid assigning resources or linking Summary lines as it
invariably, as you've discovered, leads to problems.

Hope this helps in your world.

Thanks,

Looks like it does work so far in the test instance. just don't know how it
is going to affect % complete and E-values calculation for the whole project,
since I am duplicating some data in hammock task.
