svchost gone wild

I am running XP Pro SP1 and just upgraded Office XP to
Office 2003. Now the svchost.exe process runs continously
at 95-100% and makes the machine unusable. I have all the
latest updates, have checked for virus and spyware.
Anybody know what this is all about and what to do??

Solution:
Booted XP CD -> Repaired -> Reinstall Office -> reinstall updates
So far so good.
