Swapping out complete web site content

B

Bob Rafaels

I want to completely replace an existing web site with new pages, from
the home page on down. The existing site and the new one, assembled
off-line, are in FrontPage 2003. The domain name will remain the same.

What is the proper procedure for publishing the new content? Just hit
Publish and overrise the old content? Delete the old one first?

Thank you for your help.

Open the live site in FP, and make sure you can see hidden folder, then
delete all content, with the following exceptions:

_private folder, do not delete, but delete any content within it.
images folder, do not delete, but delete any content within it.

What would be the consequences of just publishing the new site without
manually deleting from the server? Wouldn't FP delete the files no longer in
use?

That depends on if you had published a recent copy of the live site to your
local machine before you made the recent changes that you want to
re-publish.

Hi Ron,

Open the subwebs at the web site then select in Folder View the root and
delete. Repeat for each subweb then do the root. Close and publish to the
server.
