My OS is Windows XP Home Edition.
I have tryed to swich to Microsoft Outlook 2002 (that came
with Microsoft Office XP), using two methods described on
this website. I couldn't do it. I still receive my E-mail

When you have multiple E-Mail systems installed (I have 3, Outlook,
Outlook Express and Netscape), they will all work. The secret is just
not to use the two that you don't want. If I go into any one of them
and "send/receive" E-Mail, any mail that exists will come into THAT
program. Also, if any of them are set to automatically check for new
messages AND THEY ARE OPEN, they will "get the mail". That means that
you could have some messages in outlook, some in outlook express and
some in Netscape, a situation which you clearly do not want. The answer
is very simple: Decide which one you want to use (I agree that Outlook
is the "right" choice, most of the time), and turn off "automatic
message downloading" in the other two (or, possibly, in all 3). Then
simply don't open or use the other two E-Mail clients. It's not a
computer issue, it's a human issue. However, Netscape or Outlook
Express might get opened for other functions (for example, Outlook
doesn't have a newsgroup reader, but both Outlook Express and Netscape
do). It's for this reason that you want to disable automatic message
downloading.

By the way, Outlook 2003 is far better than the earlier versions. For
home users, Amazon has the Students & Teachers edition of Office 2003 on
sale for $89 after rebate ($119 before rebate), and you are allowed
LEGAL installs on 3 computers in the same household. That's a deal.

Take Outlook Express out of your Startup folder or remove the mail accounts
in it. If you don't run it, it can't receive mail.
