Switchboard button to export as xml?

Is it possible to create a button on my switchboard that will save a table
as xml? and export it to a specified location?
If so how please?

Kerry thank you for the link - its complicated and beyond me.
All I want to do is work locally and export the xml to a local file. I know
I can do this via the file save as route but I just thought if it were
relatively simple I could automate it.

Not directly. You can however create a function that does the export and
run that function from the standard switchboard.
