Switchboard to have or not!

Hello,

I have quite a few reference book in learning how to use Access 2002/3 and I
am wondering what the experts have to say about having a Switchboard? I
never understand why do you need one? For example in one of my programs I
would have start up open up a 'main menu form' with command buttons to open
other forms (input data, printing, etc.), but many of the books I read shows
a table name switchboard, forms name switchboard and in when you are in
Access you can go to Tools->Database Utilities-> there is a switchboard
manager. Is it really necessary to use one and when will that be? What
about having macros opening up a switchboard. I have not used switchboard
at all. What am I missing. Setting up a switchboard seems to be little
confusing and take up unnecessary time. Any thought or tips will be
appreciated. Thank you.

Alex,

The Switchboard Manager is kind of like a wizard--it provides inexperienced
users a way of developing a form-based menu system. But it's limited in its
flexibility. If you're comfortable developing your own form-based menu
system, go for it.

Thanks Sprinks,

I use to program in Visual Dbase and it never had a Switchboard. I just
thought the concept for using Switchboard was for beginners and you
confirmed this. I appreciated your feedback and any other take from other
Access programmers.
