Switchboard ?

I have created a switchboard for my forms and reports. How do I separate it
from access and place it on another network computer or place a copy there?
I don't want to have them have to open access to use the switchboard, just
have it on their desktop.

Thanks

Terry,

Switchboards (and all forms) can only be opened in Access.

Is there a reason for wanting to do this? There are methods to prevent
users from gaining access to the database window if you are concerned about
that.

I have a wireless network in my house and I want to have the switch board on
the desktop of the other computers in my house. I want it to look like just
another application on the other systems on the network.

Well, as I said, you'll still need Access to open the switchboard. You can
split the database and set the startup (tools, startup) properties of the
front end to open the switchboard and hide the database window. This will
make it so that the switchboard form is the only visible object when Access
starts this database. By splitting the database you can store the backend
(data) on your "server." It sounds like you want to be able to enter data
from multiple machines.

Or, since it's a small network, I would just setup a shared folder to access
this database from and then set the same startup properties as mentioned
above.

Thanks Shaun,

Is there anyway with Access to make a standalone database application. If
the Switchboard needs Access to be launched, you could make your own
Switchboard or Menu thru forms so you would not have to rely on Access to
launch the Switchboard. Say you wanted to distribute a database to people
who do not have access installed on there system. You can not legally send
your copy of Access to them. How does that happen?

Thanks
Terry
