Switching between Outlook (win) and Entourage 2004

Hi all.

I've searched the postings, but can't find the answer I'm looking for.
Apologies if this *has* been answered already.

Here's what I want to do...

At work, I have a corporate email account on a Windows Exchange 2003
server, and I use Outlook 2002 SP2 on a PC at work to access this. I
have a long commute to and from the office, so I would like to use an
iBook to stay productive whilst I'm sat on the train, by
answering/composing emails whilst offline.

If I have Entourage 2004 on my iBook, can I do the following:

1) Use my windows PC with Outlook during the normal working day
2) Before I leave the office, connect my iBook to the LAN and get a
current 'snapshot' of all my emails (Inbox & Sent mail) synch-ed with
Entourage 2004.
3) Work on these emails, offline, on my iBook whilst on the train
4) When I get home, connect back to our corporate Exchange 2003 server
using OWA in Entourage2004 to synch back with the server
5) or, failing that step 4 wouldn't work (probs with OWA for example),
wait until the following morning when I'm back in the office,
re-connect my iBook to the LAN to synch back with the Exchange server,
and then move onto my desktop PC and continue to work for the day in
Outlook.

A touch convoluted, but if I'm going to get a notebook to work on the
train, I really really don't want to buy a Wintel machine. I have to
work with one all day, and that's enough!
Your help would be appreciated.

Yes, all of that will work, except that you just allow entourage to connect
to the server - it uses the OWA protocols in the background, but you only
need to supply the server addresses for the exchange account. You don't
actually connect through a web interface.

Since you will be connecting from home, I assume you are using SSL, or
something similar to get onto the company network? Check out these
resources:

Many thanks for the help Barry.

I've only just had my mailbox ported onto Exchange 2003 (was on v5.5
previously), so I've yet to check whether access from home, via
Entourage, will work. It will be SSL - the URL for OWA access begins
with https://....

Our admin guy told me I wouldn't need the root certificate, and I'm
hoping that's the case, as I'm not sure he'll be willing to go to the
trouble of exporting it from the Exchange server for a Mac user.

Sheesh! Was told that my message wasn't posted on the first two
occassions, so I click 'post message' again - only to find I'm filling
up this thread with repeated messages. I'll get the hang of it soon...
