I am running explorer 6.0. I just installed xp home
edition. In outlook exoress evertime I try to switch
identies between email accounts it sends me back to the
identy that I have selected to start the program. It
won't let me switch identities unless I deselect the
startup identity.

I don't know what you mean by "deselect the startup identity". In
Outlook Express, I switch identities by
File > Switch Identities > select an identity other than the one
currently selected > OK
In any case, you're in the wrong newsgroup. The programs Outlook and
Outlook Express have similar names and they both do email, but they are
not the same. It's a source of endless confusion. Outlook is part of MS
Office and has some extra features, like a calendar and the option to
use Word (another Office component) as an email editor. Generally you
have to pay for Outlook. Outlook Express does email and newsgroups, and
it's free.
(Incidentally, you can switch identities in OE but not in Outlook. You
can switch profiles in Windows.ah, nevermind.)
Outlook Express (OE) newsgroup:
Fortunately for your question, there are many more people who understand
OE than Outlook.
