That's very bizarre and quite illogical. Have you tested to make sure this
isn't a virus? Can you install a Symbol by entering the code directly using
the NumPad. Try tying in a ½ symbol by Holding Down the Alt key whilst you
type in 0189 on the Numeric Keypad (NumLock on). Does that work?
