symbol in navigation view

Hi,

In navigation view I sometimes see a symbol in the shape of a red circle
with a red line through it (like the symbol you get when you click twice
next to a newsgroup message). What does it mean?

You have added a file that is not supported by the nav view / nav bars (say an image or pdf)
