symbol insert crash office XP 2002

word 2002 crashes when inserting symbols.

does anyone else have this issue and how did you fix the problem.

This error occurs only in Word 2002 for me. Insert Symbol
works in Excel and Powerpoint. Could it still be a
damaged printer driver or damaged font?
