symbols at the end of each line

I don't know how to get rid of the return and spacing symbols...any advice would be greatly appreciated. :)

Click the "Show/Hide" icon on the Standard Toolbar. It should be next to
the Zoom setting. It looks like the paragraph symbol you are trying to get
rid of.
