symbols crashes word 2002

Please help

Everytime I go to insert a symbol in word 2002 the program
has a delay of about 5 secs and then an error message
comes up say it must restart with the option of ticking a
box to receover the document you have open.

Please help, as I have tried alot of things to solve this
problem but still no luck, I think the problem lies within
the register somewhere??

Hi Chris,

This could be caused by having too many fonts available (more than
~800), a corrupt font, or a problem with your printer driver.

If you haven't exceeded the font limitation then first try updating
your printer driver with one from the manufacturer's web site. If that
doesn't resolve it then it could be a corrupt font.
