Hi matimus,
Either the document was damaged, or it wasn't a Word document at all. Ask
the sender to resend the file zipped up, and ask him whether it's really a
Word file.
This will make sure that it isn't damaged, since zip files have a check sum
to test for transmission errors.
It also makes sure that the file name, extension, or the file itself won't
be mungled, which sometimes happens with attachments.
