Sync Protected Actuals with Project File and not Project Server

I am trying to update my project plan with actuals done before we rolled out Project Server but everytime i want to save it says that the project actuals are out of sync with Project Server and wants to sync them but only in 1 direction, the Project server direction, all information in the Project Plan gets overwritten.

I deleted the project from Project Server and tried importing the project as a new project with the actuals already included but it didn't like that either.

What can i do to keep the actuals??

Ask your Project Server administrator to disable Managed Time Periods, and
then import the project. When you publish the project, be sure to do the
following:

1. Collaborate - Publish - Republish Assignments
2. Select the "Overwrite actual work entered by team members" option and
click OK

When finished, ask your Project Server admin to enable Managed Time Periods.
As you have discovered, synching actuals is a one-way process, and what is
on each user's timesheet always overrules what is in the project plan during
the synching operation. Hope this helps.
