Sync to Protected Actuals

Brian

I have a situation in which a user opened a .published file and tried to
change the actual work in the file (which should have been done using the
Adjust Actuals view, right?). Because this server is using Managed Periods,
the user is asked to sync to protected actuals. If the user chooses Yes, the
file crashes. Now, whenever that .published file is opened, the user is
asked to sync to protected actuals. If the user chooses yes, Project will
crash.

Does anybody know of a solution? Can we sync the actuals back to the
correct values from the server without this crashing?

Thanks,

This has happened to a number of users, including myself. The only solution I
am aware of is to save the project locally, delete the project from MPS that
crashes, correct the timesheet problem and then import back into MPS.

The Server is properly telling you that the PM has attempted to change
timesheet information (e.g. actual time entered by the team member)...and
asks.."do you want to sync". When you say yes, the server will overwrite what
you have manually changed on the plan, to jive with the project server.

The exception would be if you imported a file that never was on the server
(e.g. it was born as an mpp file. If you don't turn off managed time, you'll
get an out of sync. Unfortunately, the server might become overwhelmed from
so many calculations issuess....if that was the case.

If it is, let me know. I've instructions on how to properly import.

Your file crashes shouldn't be occuring, since an OK will / should work.
