Synch Treo with Outlook on PC and Mac??????

G

gmark

Is there a way to synchronize my Treo 650 (or any Palm device)
to both a Mac and a PC, but using MS Outlook on the PC?

Would I run some Mac version of Outlook or Entourage on the
Mac? Or use some third-party SW like "Missing Synch"?

Anyone have any ideas?

Thx!

The Missing Sync is very popular with Entourage users.

If you have Tiger, Entourage 2004 will now sync to the same database the
System Address Book and iCal use. Therefore, if you sync your phone through
iSync, it should sync with that common database now.

Any device listed on the following page should work:

But it doesn't seem to help to avoid doublets when synchronizing the
Treo with both Entourage on Mac and Outlook on Win.

Hello,

This is Kevin from Palm, Inc. I'm not personally familiar with
hotsyncing to two different computers, but the reason for the
duplicates may be in how the conduits are set. Perhaps the Palm
Knowledge Library article "Synchronize with multiple handhelds or with
multiple desktop computers" can give some insight. Check the section
under the heading "One handheld device, two Macs or PCs (or a
combination thereof)" at http://www.palmone.com/cgi-bin/cso_kbURL.cgi?

Sincerely
Kevin

But it doesn't seem to help to avoid doublets when synchronizing the

One thing that can cause doubles is having a middle name in an Address Book
contact will cause the contact to be duplicated when it is synced to
Entourage.

UnDupe...For Palm users. Delete duplicates from the Date Book, Address Book,
Memo Pad, and To Do List (or Franklin Task List if you are using
Franklin-Covey software) separately.

Scripts to delete duplicates:

This sounds extremely amateurish to me. Every table should have a
primary key and in the case of Entourage, Outlook and Palm's software,
these primary keys should be created and maintained automatically.

And the software should take care to avoid new sequence numbers to be
the same on two or more computers.

BTW, I don't see that Entourage supports middle names? You just put all
your Christian names in the field 'first name'. And, btw, neither Palm
Contacts nor the Tealphone I use instead support it either

I'll look into UnDupe.

But for now, I've done as suggested by

Thank you very much. I've done as you suggest. I now only synchronize
between my Mac and my Treo. On my Windows laptop I let the Treo update
the Outlook base.

And then I'll look through UnDupe which Diane Ross suggests.
