synchronizing sound with animations

I have some silly animations loaded on my front page -
that I wish to sync a sound byte with . How can i sync
the load time if using backgound sound as my source file?
( i want it to line up with moving lips - pretty close
anyway)

You would have to use Flash or some full-blown video
format.
