Syncing between Outlook 97 and Outlook 2000

I need help keeping Outlook in sync between my home and office
computer.

My Office computer is running Outlook 97 with Exchange server, and my
home computer is running stand alone with Outlook 2000. Company policy
prevents me from installing any outside software on work computer or
attaching a PDA, so this precludes any fancy syncing software. I have
a 40 gig USB drive with Microsoft Briefcase that I can use to shuttle
data back and forth.

I've tried copying the .ost file from my work computer to home, but my
home computer rejects the file and says something about hooking up to
exchange server before using offline files.

I have also tried shuttling a .pst file. That works okay as a one way
trip from Office to home. Once at home I just open the .pst and
everything is fine. But when I go back to work I have no easy way of
updating my main inbox.

Any ideas?
