Syncing of contacts and calendar items

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel
Email Client: pop

I cannot find a way to setup my sync so that the information on Entourage and my Motorola Q are exchanged. When I sync only the information from Entourage appears on my phone, many times wiping out information I had typed into my Q. It appears that the Entourage overwrites and duplicates entries I have on my Q. Is there someway to establish an interchange and not unidirectional writing?
