syncronizing outlook 2003 at startup takes very long

When a client of mine starts up her outlook 2003, there is a folder showing
transfering of files on the taskbar of outlook, but next to it, it says 100%.
It takes incredibly long for this to finish. Have I got some settings
wrong.
