I got the "System Exception: Access Violation" error when publishing a
large site from one server to the next. It turns out this wonderfully
precise error message was caused by a file that apparently exceeded the
maximum allowable file upload size.

Thanks, Microsoft, for such a helpful error message which you have
failed to fix over at least three versions of this product.

You might try uploading using an FTP client. If you do, your workstation
needs to use the same physical paths as your server since FP won't be
converting from your workstation layout to your server paths.
