System Font Distortion Upon File Open

M

***Mark***

I work on technical style layouts for company procedures,
and came across what I think is a "Bug" in the Word 2000
app. I am curious if anyone has seen this problem before
or could help me solve the problem.

All of the styles (Headings 1-9), Header, Footer, custom
styles, etc... are set to Courier (system) font 10 pt.
When I create the document and work on drafting the
document, the font appears "normal" on my monitor. When I
close the document and re-open, the fonts distort (appear
much smaller and condensed). In order to fix the
distortion, I must perform the following steps in exact
sequence: highlight a paragraph, view font properties,
view paragraph properties, scroll to the bottom of the
document, scroll to the top of the document.

I have exhausted every "trick" I know. Any help would be
appreciated.

It sounds like a screen driver problem. See if there is another available
for your display card - or reduce the hardware acceleration to the current
one.

Graham,

I have tried that "trick", even sent the file to my house,
used a colleagues computer, opened the file in windows xp,
2000, nt, etc... Tried burning the file to CD, external
memory, sending by e-mail to friends computer (same
problem). Even tried opening the file in word 2003.
Nothing has worked.

Would you like to view the file to observe the problem? I
could e-mail it to you... I have it saved as a .dot file
and a .doc file.

I also know it is strictly related to the Courier font. I
changed the font on all the styles to Arial (True Type)
and the problem disappeared, but I changed it back to
Courier, same thing.

This is not holding up any work, per say, but it is really
annoying. If you could help, I would be greatful.
-Mark

Send it via the link on the home page of my web site (zipped or it will not
get past my security)

As you may have see, my lovely company blocks the sending
of zip files. I will change the name to .zip.haha. It
worked in the past.

There's an e-mail link near the bottom of the page. I'm knocking off for the
day now - I'll pick it up tomorrow morning.
