Tab action of Tab Key in Microsoft Word (2000)

Dear all,
My tab key has suddenly stopped working to do the usual tab functions
(indenting lines, e.t.c.); now, it only tabs between open windows. Does
anyone have any idea how I can get it back to normal? I have been trying to
work this out for 45 minutes, so any help would be very gratefully received.

Hi Jane,

Sounds as if your Alt key is stuck? Maybe hammer on it a bit...
