Hi dlukaart

If you select the range first you can use the Tab key or enter key.
Select A1:C10 for example and try it

Or in 2002/2003 you can
Uncheck locked in the group of cells
Protect you sheet and uncheck select protected cells

If you use a plder version you nee VBA code.
If you want that post back

Works fine in Excel 97 also. Don't know about 2000.

Have a look at the results of a google search.

Hey Gord,

For the ocasional times when your ranges get too big, check out this old
post from Dave Peterson.

It's so simple, that even I used it.
And I'm one who stays away from code.

Hi Gord

This is not possible in 97/2000

A user can't select any cells outside the range with unprotected cell
(also not with the arrow keys)
And you don't have to select the range
