Tabing over to the next section of the outline is not working. Why

I have used the numbering many times, but today it has just decided to stop
working. It starts fine, but when I try to advance from a "II" to an "a" by
hitting tab, there is nothing there. It wont work in any outline styleand
will not let me reset. Any ideas? It's as if something has been changed, but
I didn't change anything.

Version of Word? Locate the AutoCorrect Options and in the AutoFormat As You
Type group make sure there is a check in the box for "Set left- and
first-indent with tabs and backspaces".

We've had this problem, too. As a get around, we have started using increase
indent and decrease indent. If you can't find it, go to tools, customize,
command tab, then format - it's in there, just drag it to your toolbar.
