Can I make the individual cells of the top row of a table appear at a
diagonal? The top row is going to be a list of names.

Unfortunately it's a feature in Word that isn't built in. You can do it by creating your table in Excel and then pasting or linking
the table into Word, or just the header row in Excel. Some folks create the text in Publisher, Powerpoint or in Wordart and paste
it in as a picture as well, but it's a bit messy to maintain.
