Table cells in Word 2008. Bug or just me???

S

Sudoku73

I have a Word document that I use for planning every week that works fine in Mac Office 2004 and Windows Office 2007. Now that I have upgraded to Mac Office 2008 certain cells in the table of the document are not automatically expanding downwards with the text; the text just seems to disappear behind the cell underneath.

I have removed all traces of Office 2008 and re-installed, but the same thing is still happening. Is this a bug?

If anyone wants the file to see if their copy of Word does the same I would be glad to email a copy.

Thanks

That's "just you" :)

If you have specified a fixed cell height or a fixed row height or a fixed
table height, that's what you will get.

Check the properties of the cells and rows in the table.

Cheers

I have checked everything and all settings are fine. Have tried the document in Word 2007 and the cells in the table do automatically lengthen with the text, but in Word 2008 the text gets so far down the cell and then the rest of the table below that level disappears. It must be a bug.

Can email the document to someone and they can see what I mean???

Send if not too Large. And remove any personal information you rather
not share to:

(e-mail address removed).

Note: I am an honest soul and wouldn't share anything with anyone else.
But; I rather not know any information I don't need, to prevent being
accused at a future time for doing so.

Before sending in word 2004 and I have a feeling its in word2008 if you
click on the out side edge of the Table there are grab bars you can use
to stretch Horizontally Vertically or both. Have you tried that.

I've sent Hopefully a fixed version back to you.

Its exactly as I suspected. works like Office2004.

Click on the Table. now move the mouse pointer to the lower right corner.

At that point you'll see one of, or both of the following

a little grab box, and or a double pointed arrow at a diagonal.

grab one or the other and pull straight down. Do this in increments.

Stretch the Table until it begins to Break up on right hand side.

At that point do a command (cloverleaf or Open Apple) - Z. Or go to File menu and
choose Undo.

Now save the document using Save As... and use same name OR if you want a backup
copy change name slightly and your original will remain as it was originally.

I am unaware of the feature where it will automatically resize. It may be in
Office2008 just haven't run across it.

You can also stretch a table sideways as well but only to the width of you margins.

Down, you can break it acroos Page Margins.
