TABLE function - Summarizing data tables (what-if analyses)

I'd like to summarize (mean, stdev, min, max, etc.) the data from a one-way or
two-way data table. I WAS able to to this in versions of Excel PRIOR to
2007. However, any formula I type that references a data table is NOT
correctly calculated in Excel 2007. I've tried to address this problem by
changing the recalculation of the spreadsheet to row-wise or column-wise
(which was possible in earlier versions) but this option no longer exists.

Any suggestions?
