Table of Contents - 2

I am using word 2003.
I think I got my first problem solved but now I have another one. In the
document that I am creating a Table of Contents for, the author for some 3rd
step items began them with a "-" space & Title". On other 3rd place items he
just has a "title". I was very careful to only highlight the "titles" in
both incidences. Did not highlight the "-" when assigning the text a style.
But my ToC puts in the "-" when it was added to the document and of course
there is no "-" where there wasn't added to the document. Consequent, My ToC
looks like it is drunk.
Ex: Header 1
Header 2
- Header 3
- Header 3
Header 1
Header 2
Header 3
Header 3
Does anyone have any idea of how to make sure the "-" is not included in the
header?

Thank you - Aurora

The TOC does NOT (NOT) look at the DATA CONTENTS of a HEADER when it
constructs itself. It ONLY looks at the HEADER DEFinitions (HDR1...or
HDR2....or HDR3...and so on...) and positions them accordingly on a next line
of the TOC table. Whatever the HEADER contains in terms of info (words,
characters, COLORS, special characters) is plugged right-in into the TOC. Had
the same matter. That is why you see the hyphens and spaces. You will need to
do the labor of going thru each HDR DEF containing the hyphens/space,
correcting it and then RE-TOCing. Fortunately, your TOC already tells you
where these hyphens are, so you don't need to look for them. You simply
hyperlink to them...one-by-one.
