Table of Contents Question

I am creating quite a large document which is actually made up of a number
of (all separate) Word documents. I decided to create my table of contents
using RD fields.

The table of contents is made up automatically from title headings as well
as heading 1s and 2s.

I have recently discovered that I would like to add some other documents to
my table of contents BUT I only want the title heading to appear for these
documents.

Is there a way to do this? I don't want to have to go and change all my
heading 1s and 2s to some other style as I may wish to include them in
future. I thought I could maybe use bookmarks or marked TC entries? Is there
a way to make a table of contents that is made up from headings and TC
entries/bookmarks (bearing in mind that I am using RD fields and my table of
contents is really a standalone document)?

I have consulted the help files and various other documents but can't find
an answer.

Yes, you can mix heading-based and TC-based entries, or you can use
"outline levels" instead.

The new documents must use heading styles that are *not* the built-in
Heading 1, etc. You can make up new styles that have the same
formatting as their built-in counterparts but different names.

If you want to use TC fields, insert them for the title headings only.
In the Insert > Index and Tables dialog, on the Table of Contents tab,
click the Options button and check the "Table entry fields" box in
addition to the "Styles" box.

If you want to use outline levels, you set one up when you define the
new style for the title headings. In the Style > Modify dialog, click
the Format button and choose Paragraph; in the upper right corner of
the dialog, set the outline level to "Level 1" (or whatever is
applicable for your documents). The other new styles should be left as
"Body text" level so they won't appear in the TOC. In the Insert >
Index and Tables > Options dialog, check both "Styles" and "Outline
levels".
