This may ultimately be impossible to accomplish “automatically.†I will try
to explain what I would like a Table of Figures (or Tables, or Forms) to look
like and what my documents have. I am using Word 2000.
DESIRED: I would like to create a Table of Figures without the word Figure
before the title. However, I do want the ‘Word auto-inserted Chapter # -
Sequence #’ “titleâ€. Simply un-checking the ‘Table of Figures/Include label
and number’ does not satisfy this requirement.
My document has multiple sections comprised of the main body, Appendix A,
Appendix B, etc. Each section can have its own table/figures/forms that
(right now) are ‘automatically’ formatted with the ‘Insert – Caption’ and
‘Use Chapter Number’ checked. My appendix titles are formatted with Heading
9 (to provide the appropriate Chapter Number {see example}.)
Example of two Figures in Appendix B, on pages B-3 and B-4:
Figure B-1. Frequency Drifting
Figure B-2. Transmit Tuning Time
Revealed codes:
Figure {STYLEREF 9 \s }- {SEQ Figure \* ARABIC \s 9 }. Frequency Drifting
Figure {STYLEREF 9 \s } -{SEQ Figure \* ARABIC \s 9 }. Transmit Tuning Time

I would like the Table of Figures to be displayed:
B-1. Frequency Drifting...............................B-3
B-2. Transmit Tuning Time.........................B-4

Thanks for your suggestions-

single-level numbering through the Modify Style dialog box.
