Table possibilities

I recently came across the page below:

http://www.maconusersgroup.org/charmap.html

I imorted it into FP just to see how it was setup. There are dozens of
tables at the top with the graphics in separate small boxes. What I don't
understand is how each table seems to be separately shaped and spaced -
independent of each other - almost as if the designer was able to put them
anywhere he wanted. Hard to explain, but I'm only able to make tables by
dividing rows and columns. Does anyone know how this is done?

Thanks

Bryan

maybe it's made in Photoshop or Image Ready? you can make slices or hotspots
anywhere. Importing into Fp may be what makes it into tables?
I'm no expert tho, just a hunch

Take a look at the top row in the table.

note that there is no content in any cell, but notice what happpens if you
move the left or right edge of any in the top row .

Everything below it moves also, so it looks like the top row is the model
upon which is based all the rows below it. .

if you create a table with maybe 10 or 15 columns and 20 or 25 rows you
could create that type of table by doing a few Merge cells. Remember you
can merge cell horizontally, vertically or both.

There is nothing that suggests hotspots or image maps .

The other trick is "nesting" tables. It allows fairly exact position
control inside larger cells. However, to much table nesting slows down the
page loading speed significantly. It has to do with a table needing to be
fully downloaded before the browser will display any part of it.
