Table row resizing problems

I recently switched from Word X to Word 2004 (11.3.4). I lost the
ability to resize table rows by dragging on their border. The double
arrow/bars would show up, but they would not move the borders. I
finally found out that if I were to display the vertical ruler (View
Preferences) or hide the horizontal ruler (View menu) the problem
would stop. Word X does not seem to have this quirk (bug?)

Okay. Your post is a little hard to follow, and I confused rows with
columns for a minute, and I never see double arrows so have a hard time
grabbing the borders, but, *I think* I reproduced this.

Word 2004 here (11.3.3, I think).

In Page Layout view, with the Horizontal ruler on but the Vertical Ruler
off, I cannot resize a table row.

I see no problem with both rulers on, or both rulers off, and Vertical
On, Horizontal Off is impossible to achieve, so does not present a problem.

Is that the same thing you see?

You can report it as a bug by using Help | Send Feedback in Word. Since
the workaround (turn on vertical ruler) is both pretty easy and probably
the default setting for most users, it's unlikely to be a high priority
fix, but it's always good to let them know where the problems are.

Daiya,

Thanks for the response. Yes, this is what I am seeing. I turn the
vert. ruler off to save screen space (12" iBook). I will copy MS.
Strange that the little "arrow/bars" don't show up when you hover your
pointer over a row boundary.

Best,

Jon
