Table Text Turns Gray When Table Is Selected

With my tables, the text turns gray when the table is
selected. The gray goes away when the table is not
selected.

How can I keep the tables from turning gray when I select
the table?

It sounds as if your table is a field (IncludeText perhaps?). In which case,
set field shading to "Never" on the View tab of Tools | Options.
