table width keeps changing

Help! I have a table with multiple columns and with the last several rows
having only 3 columns. In order to format column widths, I split the table
into two tables and formated each column so that both tables added up to a
width of 7in. However, when I delete the space between the tables so that
they return to one table, the lower rows expand in width. I do not have auto
resize on.
Please help

Did you make sure to specify fixed column widths? You can do this
quickly by choosing Table | AutoFit | Fixed Column Width.

If the above doesn't help, try setting the widths using the old Cell
Height and Width dialog box. See
