I've been opening our Access mdb / table of products the same way for years,
but a couple of days ago after shutting down normally the night before, the
table won't open.
I can see the db in Windows Explorer so I know it's still there.
I have done an Office "Detect & Repair" and an Access "Compact & Repair
Database" hoping that one of these would fix the problem, but the problem
persists.
I tried to open the table by going to Start-->Programs but the same thing
happens. I.E. The first Access screen opens allowing me to choose what I want
to open. I can see the table I want, select it but when I click on [Open] it
doesn't. When I see the table with Windows Explorer, the time/date reflects
that I just opened it, but it didn't open.
I am able to open earlier versions / backups of the table. I'd like not to
lose the changes made to the latest table so I prefer not using an earlier
version.
An order processing Access based program that links to the table works fine
with the table.
I allowed a Microsoft update to occur last week. I don't remember whether
this table problem started to happen right after the install or not.
This table is our 9000+ product offerings so it is important for our
business to resolve this issue.
Help will be greatly appreciated.
