Tables not connected, yet report seems to connect them anyway

I'm using Access 2002. I wasn't sure whether this belonged in the queries
group or reports group, so I put it here instead. I'm creating a report, but
I think the problem has to do with the query created in the query builder in
the record source of the report.

I create a weekly report. Each week, a new table of data is brought in. What
I do is to copy the report from the last week, rename it to a new report, add
the new table in the record source, and change all the control sources for
the different aspects of the report to match the new table (the new week's
data). I had been leaving the old tables in there, but they were NOT
connected to each other, only to another table with employee info (the other
table is just their stats with their extension, so we need the info table to
get their names on the report).

I noticed some people were missing from the report that show up in that
week's table. When I removed all of the past week tables from the record
source of the report, they came back. I am guessing that this may have
something to do with the fact that they were missing on certain weeks. The
thing that confuses me is that I did not have the weekly data tables
connected to each other, and I only used the most recent week's data table.
Why would it still only give entries that matched in each table? Since they
were all linked to the same info table, would it still link them all that
way, and only show entries that showed up in every table (in this case, they
are connected by extension)?

Well, I guess nobody had an answer for this one. Thanks anyway, though. I
think I figured it out.
